Surinder Shinda's Last Journey: Floral Truck Carried Veteran Artist to Final Resting Place for Cremation

Surinder Shinda, the Punjabi folk singer, died on July 26, 2023. He was cremated in the city of Ludhiana's Model Town Extension. During this time, leaders, prominent actors and singers were also present.

His final journey today began earlier at 1:30 pm from his house. His remains were delivered on a floral-decorated truck. Additionally, Shinda’s image was pasted to the front of the truck. His admirers paid their homage to the Singer in an open truck. The final journey ended at the cremation area at 2:15 after travelling for around 5 kilometers.

Well known celebrities showed up to honor the singer. Mohammad Sadiq, Firoz Khan, Hobby Dhaliwal, Satwinder Bugga, Gugu Gill, and Gurpreet Gogi, among other Punjabi folk musicians, were included in this. Many of his loved ones joined him on the final journey at the same time.

As, Simran and Shinda's daughter reside overseas, his final rituals were carried out three days after he passed away. Following Shinda's passing, there is a wave of grief among Punjabi folk singers. Since Wednesday, there has been a large influx of mourners at his home following the passing of this famous talent of the Punjabi cinema industry. Social, political, religious, and movie celebrities traveled to Ludhiana to console and support the family.

On July 26, Surinder Shinda passed away in Ludhiana's DMC Hospital. He underwent a food pipe surgery a few days prior in a private hospital, which worsened his case leading to breathing difficulties. Shinda was also kept on a ventilator at Deep Hospital in Ludhiana for several days. Due of his deteriorating condition, he was sent to DMC. In DMC, the treatment lasted many days. He eventually lost the battle for his life.

He worked at Sarup Mechanical Works in Ludhiana before becoming a vocalist, although he always desired to be a singer. So he quit his job and chose to pursue a career as a professional singer. Shinda studied music under Ustad Jaswant Bhamra. Bhamra was the National College's Professor of Music at the time. Shinda has released around 165 music cassettes.
