DEHRADUN: A 65-year-old woman succumbed to swine flu at the Synergy Hospital on Friday, taking the death toll due to the disease to eight in the past 16 days. The patient had been admitted in the hospital around a fortnight ago.
The Chief Medical Officer of Dehradun district, Dr SK Gupta, confirming the death said, “We have been collecting samples from various city hospitals and getting tests for the H1N1 virus done, there are 15 positive cases and eight deaths till now.”
On Friday, two patients, suspected to be suffering from the virus, were admitted at the Govt Doon Medical College Hospital and the staffs were put on alert. Officials said that their sample results have been sent to Delhi and reports are expected to arrive by Saturday.
A day earlier, on Thursday, five more cases of the virus had been reported.
