Swarnim Vijay Varsh marks the “50th Anniversary” of India’s victory over Pakistan, to honor the Indian Armed Forces who won a resounding victory over Pakistan in 1971. In remembrance of the great warriors and martyrs who have fought in the 1971 India Pakistan war.
To mark the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ the Indian Air force with the coordination of Vajra Corps organized two days Air Show at the Aviation Base in Jalandhar Cantt. Aerobatic Display Team named Suryakiran Aerobatic Team of Indian Airforce did an Air Show at Jalandhar Cantt on 17 Sep 2021. But the show on 18 Sep 2021 was cancelled due to bad weather.

A large number of students from Sainik School Kapurthala, Army Public Schools, various Kendriya Vidyalayas, Lovely Professional University, Asha School and other schools of Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Kapurthala watched this spectacular aerobatic display. Veterans, families and soldiers were also present to witness the event. Lieutenant General C Bansi Ponnappa, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps was the chief guest & other Senior Military Officers were also present in the spectator gallery.
"Suryakiran" - Rays of the Sun (in Sanskrit), was raised in 1996 on Kiran Mk II AC and the team had enthralled many spectators in India and abroad till 2011. In 2015 the team was resurrected on the Hawk Mk 132 aircraft. Since its resurrection, the team has slowly yet steadily grown from a 4 aircraft formation to the current precise and professional 9 aircraft formation. Living up to its motto “Always the Best” this team is the only current military 9 aircraft aerobatic team in Asia and has made jaw-dropping performances, globally. Most professional Air Forces have a Formation Aerobatic unit which undertakes the extremely challenging role of doing aerobatic maneuvers close to the ground, in large formations, to not only showcase their capabilities but also to motivate the youth to join the esteemed defense services.

Various fighter planes and army equipment were also displayed. The event was a grand success and enthralled all the spectators and citizens of the nearby area too.
