Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has taken a dig at those who are seeking solidarity for the country after the social media posts of international celebs, including pop star Rihanna, in support of the farmer's protest. These include the names of many Bollywood celebrities. They all supported the social media trends #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda, asking people not to fall into false propaganda.
Taapsee in her tweet wrote, "If one tweet rattles your unity, one joke rattles your faith or one show rattles your religious belief then it’s you who has to work on strengthening your value system not become ‘propaganda teacher’ for others."
The whole case started after 32-year-old Hollywood pop-star Rihanna posted a news story of the US news channel CNN and questioned, 'Why are we not talking about this (on India's farmer movement)?' This post was retweeted by 2.20 lakh people. After this, Norway's 18-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg also tagged the same news from CNN, saying, "We show solidarity towards India's peasant movement."
After this, American actress Amanda Cerny posted a photo of women involved in the peasant movement and wrote, "The world is watching. You don't have to be Indian or Punjabi or South Asian to understand the issue. All you have to do is care about humanity. Always demand freedom of speech, freedom of press, basic human and civil rights-equity and dignity for workers."
