As the Taliban took over Kabul confirming Afghanistan’s collapse, thousands of civilians, government officials and diplomats gathered at the capital’s airport in an attempt to flee the nation.
Following its takeover, the Taliban is attempting to send a message to the world that it will protect Afghan lives and property. However, the reports of Kabul airport being under fire is giving an opposite idea and concerns are risen.
Reportedly, multiple women were shot at the airport for not wearing a hijab. A stampede broke out at the airport following the shooting.
A video of the incident has been made viral. According to the source, American soldiers too replied after the Taliban opened fire. Taliban, on the other hand, have not confirmed the incident yet.
Earlier, the US Embassy reported that the capital's airport had come under fire, with diplomats, officials, and other Afghans fleeing.
"The security situation in Kabul, notably at the airport, is rapidly changing. As a result of reports that the airport is on fire, we are advising US citizens to seek shelter," a security notice issued by the US Embassy stated.

Hundreds of Afghans, including government ministers and employees, as well as civilians, including many women and children, had rushed to the terminal, anxious for flights out.
"The situation at the airport has gotten out of hand. The government has just sold us out," said an official.
Meanwhile, the US has assured that it will station 6,000 of its soldiers at the airport to ensure that civilians are safely evacuated.
Earlier, the Taliban had said that it supports women's rights. A Taliban spokesperson had told the media that women will be able to leave their houses alone and will have access to education and employment, but they will be required to wear the hijab.
