Tamayo Perry, 49, who has also starred in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Blue Crush," was attacked by a shark near Goat Island on Sunday afternoon, according to Honolulu's emergency services.
The incident was reported by a caller who said they had seen a man suffering from what appeared to be shark bites. Emergency services arrived at the scene on Malaekahana Beach just before 1 pm local time.
Rescuers brought Perry, an Ocean Safety lifeguard and surfing instructor, to shore by jet ski. Paramedics assisted with the death pronouncement, said Shayne Enright of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
Who was Tamayo Perry?
Perry, who worked as a lifeguard on the North Shore, began his career with the Ocean Safety department in July 2016, Mr. Enright said. He appeared as a pirate in "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," as reported by Honolulu's Star-Advertiser in 2011.
He was a well-known Hawaii former professional surfer with acting credits to his name, including a role in one of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. Besides ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’, Tamayo Perry appeared in ‘Blue Crush’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, and the Charlie’s Angels sequel ‘Full Throttle’.
