The mortal remains of retired IG (Retd) BSF Mr Bakhshish Singh, who passed away in February 6, were consigned to flames with full honours today here at Model Town cremation Ground amidst influx of mourners, and sympathizers who gave tearful adieu to departed soul.
The decorated officer had served the country in various capacities and was renowned for his intelligence, hard work, commitment and dedication for the country. DIG PSO Mr Pratul Gautam, DIG (G) Mr BS Rawat, DIG Mr Rajesh, Colnol Ravi Bhushan from Indian Army, Joint Director Information and Public Relations Department Dr. Ajit Kanwal Singh Hamdard, on behalf of entire Hamdard family, laid the wreath on the body of retired IG Bakshish Singh and shared the grief with the family. The dignitaries, while expressing their condolences with the family, prayed to God for giving eternal peace to departed soul and strength to family members to bear this irreparable loss.
Recalling the stupendous services rendered by late Mr Bakshish Singh, they said that the hard work and dedication of Mr. Kullar would ever act as a lighthouse for our coming generations and inspire them to join security forces for serving the country zealously and with full patriotic fervour. They said that besides being a valiant officer Mr Bakshish Singh was a fine human being with qualities of head and heart. They said that the death of this great son of soil has created a void in the society that would be very difficult to be filled in the near future.
The last rites of departed soul were performed by the elder son Sukhpreet Singh. Mr Bakshish Singh was survived by wife Mrs Nirmal Kaur and two sons Mr Sukhpreet Singh and Mr Gurpreet Singh. The last prayer for departed soul would be held on February 15, 2021 from 12 noon to 1 pm at Gurudwara Sahib, Urban Estate Phase-1.
