RJD Chief and Bihar leader Lalu Prasad Yadav's family is speculated to have an internal rift as the elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has resigned from his party post i.e. the head of the student wing of RJD. This rift coming just before the Lok Sabha elections can be seen as a major problem for RJD which is in seat sharing with Congress and RLSP in Bihar in the upcoming general elections.

"I am resigning from the post of RJD's student wing. Naive are those who think I am naive. I know exactly who stands where," Tej Pratap Yadav tweeted.

Often termed as less politically gifted than his younger brother Tejaswi Yadav, Tej Pratap is reported to have some ego clashes with is younger brother who is being touted as Lalu's more preferred successor.

Sources have also reported that Tej Pratap wants his close aides to be on the list of candidates to be fielded by RJD in the election arena.
This is also supported by the fact that it was Tejaswi, not Tej Pratap, who became the Deputy Chief Minister when Nitish Kumar became the CM of Bihar in 2015.
