Issuing a warning on Wednesday PDP leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti said, “J&K relation with India would end” if Articles 370 and 35A of the constitution will be scrapped. The article provides special status and exclusive powers to the state regarding residency.
BJP President Amit Shah in an interview said that the removal article 35A and 370 can give a halt to the Kashmir problem. Even the Minister of Finance of India Arun Jaitley said that the Kashmir problem is still our issue and if voted to full majority in the Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha . Shah also hinted that Kashmir issue will also be BJP manifesto.
Replying to the intentions of BJP Mufti said, “If that turns out to be the case, 2020 will be a deadline from Jammu and Kashmir to the nation. If you remove those terms and conditions on which J&K was acceded to India, our relation with the country also ends.”
Clearing her own agenda of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti advocated for status quo on Article 370, revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), holding dialogue and reducing army footprint from civilian areas.
