India’s love and passion for cricket is known across the globe. Witnessing this passion, director Sashikanth made a film, ‘Test,’ which has surely grabbed the attention of all cricket lovers and fans in India. 

The film has been released on the online streaming platform ‘Netflix.’ It was released on Friday, April 4, 2025. It is worth noting that the film was shot in Tamil, but a Hindi-dubbed version of the same is also available.

Now, people are curious to know if the film is based on a real-life personality. The clear answer to this question is ‘no’; however, the director of the film mentioned that he drew inspiration from one incident from India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli’s career. 

He outlined that the film was inspired by Virat Kohli, who played in the 2006 Ranji Trophy shortly after the death of his father. However, he also clarified that the film does not revolve around Kohli's life. During the 2006 Ranji Trophy matches, Kohli was back on the field just a few hours after the death of his father, which shows his dedication to the game and immense emotional strength. 

The character of the cricketer is Arjun Venkatraman, who is portrayed by Siddharth.
