Police have cautioned against clicking on suspicious links sent on social media and WhatsApp on the pretext of providing free access to the newly-released movie “The Kashmir Files”. Disclosing this, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Noida) Ranvijay Singh warned people against such cybercrime.
The police officials have appealed to the people not to open the links on the phone from unknown numbers. If the link is opened, then cyber thugs can break into people's bank accounts. Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP also said that cases of cybercrime are coming to the fore continuously, so people should be alert.
“Three people approached the police within a period of 24 hours from just one police station with similar complaints of cyber fraud, in which they ended up losing a combined Rs 30 lakh,” said Singh.
“There could be situations in which a phone user does not know that their device has been hacked from a remote location but is alarmed only when they learn that their bank accounts have been emptied”, the additional DCP added.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders in Bihar on Wednesday demanded that the Bollywood movie 'The Kashmir Files', which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1990s, should be exempted from tax in the state.
On the other hand, taking a lead in the Congress, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has invited all the MLAs from the state to watch the movie. It is also learnt that the Prime Minister also said that attempts were made to suppress the truth by the 'flag bearers' of freedom of expression.
