A video of a lion eating grass at the Gir forest in Gujarat has surfaced online and generated a discussion on social media sites. This might sound strange to some of you but wildlife enthusiasts will not be surprised. Lions enjoy their meat but often consume grass due to a reason. In case you didn't know about this, read on.
In the video that has gone viral on social media and is being circulated widely, the lion is seen chewing on to shrubs and herbs on the grassland in the forest. The lion, after consuming the grass, threw up as seen in the video.
A section of the internet is pretty amused after watching it and wrote funny stuff about it on Twitter. "Vegetarian lion," a user said while another added, "That poor guy was told to diet by his wife. She is a Lioness."
Several others, though, explained the reason behind the lion consuming grass and said that the animal often does so to clean its intestines. "They eat grass and then vomit it to clean intestine," a user said. "All the species of cats eat grass as a natural laxative. Adds fiber and bulk to their diet, helping them to pass worms and fur, bones, feather etc, as they eat both edible and inedible parts of prey," another tweet read.

That's correct because experts reiterated it while speaking to The Times Of India. The raw meat that lions consume has an acidic effect and cause trouble indigestion. The grass helps to clean their system hence.
"All wild cats consume some grass when their stomach is upset. They eat grass to vomit out some undesirable food they have consumed," Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF), Shetrunji Range, told TOI.
