On Tuesday, VK Paul member of NITI Aayog stated that the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is in the hands of the people as “it can be prevented if Covid appropriate behavior is followed, and the majority of people get vaccinated”. He came with this statement a day after a record 85 lakh Covid vaccination doses were administered across the country till Monday midnight.
The country touched this record on the first day of the implementation of the new Covid-19 policy, under which the Central Government would buy 75 percent of the vaccines from the pharmaceutical companies and distribute the stock among the states and union territories for free of cost to vaccinate every Indian citizen above the age of 18 years.

He said that this value demonstrates India’s ability to carry out the administration of Covid-19 jabs on large scale for days and weeks together. VK Paul said, “All this was possible because of planning and coordination between the Central and state governments and taking up the task work in a mission mode.”
On the expected third wave, Paul said, “Whether or not a third wave occurs, it is in our hands.”
He added that “The third wave can be stopped if Covid appropriate behavior is followed and the majority of people get vaccinated.”
The member of NITI Aayog also highlighted the importance and benefits of fast vaccination in order to enable India to open its economy and resume normal work and he also highlighted fast vaccination as the key to go back to normal life and lifestyle.
NITI Aayog member said, “We need to do our daily work, maintain our social life, open school, businesses, take care of our economy, we will be able to do this only when we are able to vaccinate at a fast pace.”
VK Paul further dismissed the rumors related to the Covid jabs and claimed them to be safe. He said, “Vaccines are saving lives, now it is the best time to take the vaccine. It is a big mistake to think that our vaccines are unsafe.”

He further said, “All vaccines of the world have been approved under Emergency Use Authorization, just like our vaccines. People from various sections of society have taken these. The second wave has now receded and it is the best time to take Covid-19 jabs.”
At last, he emphasized that how the central government’s decision to vaccinate the healthcare workers on priority has protected the healthcare workers during the second wave of Covid-19.
Paul said, “Very few health care workers got infected, otherwise, our hospitals themselves would have collapsed during the second wave, so please be assured that people are being saved from the coronavirus due to the vaccination.”
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) released a statement, quoting VK Paul, the statement read, “Why will there be a third wave if we follow Covid appropriate behavior and get ourselves vaccinated? There are many countries where even the second wave has not arrived. If we follow Covid appropriate behavior, this period will pass too.”
