Aspirations are given wings when determined to achieve the so-called impossible. When one is well determined, no matter what is in their way it will just look so small to pass through.

Meet Naleena Prasheetha of Chennai who in the pride month of June created a history.  She is one of the prime reasons for rejoices for many trans persons in Chennai.

In elections held on Friday last week, Naleena Prasheetha becomes the first trans persons to be elected as the Associate Secretary of the students union of Loyola College, Chennai.

Naleena at an early age was a school dropout but was still committed to complete her education as a private candidate. She finished her XII and is the first trans person to graduate from college. Currently is pursuing Masters in Visual Communication at Loyola College in Chennai.

In an interview, she said “Loyola is like my mother. The college has not just given me love but also made me what I am today. I am more confident because of the support the teachers and my friends have given me.”

Talking her manifesto she promised to take up the issues of the students. One of her aspirations which she shared will be a memorable one; it is her ambition to empower women. She also said that she wants to safeguard women against cybercrime by spreading awareness.

Explaining about her role and her promising changes she said, “Students wanted a separate girls’ team for volleyball. I have decided that there will be separate teams for all sports played in the college. We also plan to offer self-defense courses for the students.”
