The Indian Army on Sunday launched a major counter-offensive on terror launchpads and Pakistani military positions in Pak-occupied Kashmir, killing terrorists and some military personnel as well. Pakistani media has relayed the strike as "indiscriminate shelling".
At least three terror launch pads in Jura, Athmuqam and Kundalsahi in PoK were targeted and destroyed by the Indian Army, sources said. Five Pakistani Army personnel were killed in the retaliatory firing by the Indian Army.
However, Pakistani media reports have claimed the Indian Army conducted strikes "without any provocation". The reports have also claimed that nine Indian Army soldiers were killed by the Pakistani Army.
The action by the Indian Army was taken after posts assisting terrorist infiltration were identified on Sunday and hit after Pakistan used artillery fire targeting civilian areas, army sources said.
Pakistan's leading media house The Dawn has said, "India pounds AJK villages lose nine troops in reprisal".
Dawn also reported how Pakistan has rejected India's claims of destroying terror launchpads along the Line of Control.
The News International has carried the headline: "Modi unleashes undeclared war on Pakistan".
The Nation reported India carried out "unprovoked ceasefire violations" in civilian areas in which one Pakistani soldier was killed along with two others. The report further claimed that 9 Indian soldiers have been killed in the firing.
The Indian retaliation came a day after Pakistan military resorted to firing in Tangadhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control to assist infiltration by terrorists, killing two Indian Army personnel and a civilian. Three others were also injured in the attack.
Daily Times have reported how the Indian Army onslaught was "one of the worst".
