In rescue operation, other two have been carried out. As per the initial information, the building housed the office of a builder and is located near the JTPL City project on Landran Road. Being second saturday, not many people were prsent in the building. However, exact number of people have not been listed by the administration.
An adjoining plot was being dug up when a JCB operator hit one of the walls of the building which resulted in the collapse said the police.
The police, fire brigade and Mohali district administration officials rushed to the spot and rescue operation is still going on.

Himanshu Jain, SDM Kharar said, "So far there are no casualties. We have rescued two people who were rushed to hospital. We have established contact with two persons trapped inside. There is no clear number of how many people are trapped inside but we have learnt from people that there were about six persons inside the building when it collapsed."
According to the police sources, three people had managed to run out of the building just before it collapsed.
Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, Girish Dayalan said, "The two people who have been rescued have said that there are only two more persons inside. But we will continue the rescue work considering that there maybe more number of people inside."
A National Disaster Response Force team comprising of 25 people from 7 NDRF units have taken over the rescue operation. To speed up the rescue operation, the NDRF team from Pinjore was rushed to the spot. The unit has sought reinforcements that is on the way.
Kharar SMO Surinder Singh said, "One person called Prem Bahadur who was injured in the incident has been admitted to the civil hospital. His arm is fractured."
Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu has reached the spot and has sought compensation for the injured. DC Mohali Girish Dayalan said, "The Army is on standby and additional NDRF reinforcements are on the way."
Expressing concern on the Kharar building collapse incident, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has asked for a detailed report on the incident. The DC Mohali will submit the report.
