India is known for its rich culture and wildlife and the king of the jungle i.e. tiger is one of the wild animals which reside in India abundantly. Wildlife radiotelemetry is instrumental in tracking the movement of animals. Transmitters, such as collars, are attached to animals and transmission of radio signals are used to locate it. This particular tiger, named C1, was also tracked through his radio collar. Kaswan, in his post, though informed that the battery of his radio collar had drained out.
However, have you ever wondered how the collar is removed from the neck of the tiger?
IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan has explained it through a video. Parveen shared the video with the caption, "I shared story of #tiger C1 which walked 3,017kms in 13 months in search of mate. He was tracked through VHF Radio Telemetry, through a collar. Shared procedure yesterday. After drain of battery this is how radio collar is removed by remote control. Technology in #conservation."
