The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat tweeted a cryptic message on Wednesday, implying that he has not been receiving the necessary support from the organisation ahead of the Assembly elections. In a series of tweets, the senior Congressman stated that the organisation that is supposed to help him is either ignoring him or playing a negative role.

In tweets that hint of a new rebellion in the party only weeks before state polls, Rawat, who is also a member of the Congress Working Committee, implored God for "margdarshan (direction)" and claimed, "he has had enough."

"Isn't it strange? We have to swim through this election sea, but instead of helping me, the organisation has turned its back on me or is actively playing a negative role," Harish Rawat wrote on Twitter.

The senior party leader tweeted in Hindi that "the powers that be have let loose many crocodiles in the sea that we must cross. My hands and feet have been shackled by those who I am supposed to follow. I've had the impression that Harish Rawat has gone too far, that you have done enough, and that it is time for you to rest."

"Then there's a voice in my head that whispers gently, "I'm not weak, and I'm not afraid of challenges." I'm in a state of flux. I'm hoping that the New Year will show me the path. I am confident that Lord Kedarnath (Shiva) would lead me in the right direction," the Congress leader continues, indicating that he is dissatisfied and pondering his options.

With the Uttarakhand election approaching, Mr Rawat's warning is loud and clear. Rawat had previously demanded that Congress name a chief ministerial candidate for the 2022 Assembly elections, stating that doing so would stop factionalism and clear up uncertainty among party workers.

He had asked the Congress leadership to name Pritam Singh, the then-Uttarakhand Congress unit president, as the CM candidate for the 2022 elections, adding that he doesn't mind Indira Hridayesh being considered as well.
