A speeding gravel-laden tipper rammed into a private DIPS school bus full of children by going on the wrong side this morning near Nadala Chowk on Begowal-Subhanpur road in Kapurthala.The wind glasses of the bus were broken in the accident due to which some children sitting in the bus have suffered minor injuries. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the parents of the children reached the spot within a few minutes. After getting the information of the incident, the Nadala Chownki police reached the spot and started investigation by taking the tipper driver into custody.
According to the information, at around 7.30 am on Monday morning, a high speed tipper carrying gravel was going from Begowal towards Subhanpur. When the tipper driver tried to cross Nadala Chowk without looking at the sides, he collided with a private school bus of DIPS coming from Dhilwan Road.
According to bus driver Mandeep Singh, where the side mirrors of the bus were broken due to the collision, the children inside the bus suffered minor injuries. He told that he repeatedly honked the horn to stop the tipper, but the tipper driver did not listen.Parents of the children reached the spot within few minutes but all the children’s were in safe position. The children who received minor injuries were sent home after first aid. The relatives of the children have demanded appropriate legal action against the errant driver.
