Lovlina Borgohain, an Indian boxer, will compete for a silver medal in Tokyo today. By reaching the semi-finals of the 69 kg weight category, she has already secured a medal. Lovlina had gotten her mother treated at the same time, during preparation for the Olympics. Lovlina’s mother both the kidneys got failed. She helped her mother to transplant one of her kidney by giving her winning amount for the operation.
Lovlina influenced by Mohammad Ali
In an interview, Lovlina stated that she was influenced from Mohammad Ali and started boxing by watching his videos. Tiken Borgohain, his father, once brought sweets from the market wrapped in newspaper. On the same newspaper, Lovlina saw Mohammad Ali picture. His father taught him about Muhammad Ali. Since then, she started dreaming of making a career in boxing.
Lovlina’s Achievements
Lovlina, a two-time World Boxing Champion, won Bronze in the 2018 and 2019 World Boxing Championships, Silver in the first Indian Open International Boxing Tournament in Delhi, and Gold in the second Indian Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati. She has also earned a bronze medal at the 2017 Asian Boxing Championships.She has also earned a bronze medal at the 2017 Asian Boxing Championships. She also represented India at 2018 Commonwealth Game. Now she entered in semi finals in Tokyo olympics 2020.
