In a rare sight, Kotha Guru village of Bathinda witnessed a tornado on Saturday afternoon. Multiple cities and districts of Punjab on Saturday were hit by heavy hailstorms and rain. While the IMD had already issued an orange alert in Punjab, the formation of a tornado in a Bathinda village is grabbing everyone's attention. Although no casualties or major destruction have been reported, a tornado in Punjab is indeed a rare sight. As per the information received, the Bathinda tornado broke the walls of a shed in the village of Kotha Guru Ka and also broke the sheets covering the tin roof. This type of tornado has been seen for the first time in Bathinda. According to the villagers, a large number of people have suffered a loss in the village of Kotha Guru Ka, while crops have also been affected.
Orange Alert in Punjab
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh indicating a spell of rainfall and hailstorms today (March 2). IMF has predicted scattered to light to moderate rainfall over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and isolated to scattered rainfall over UP, Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh from March 1-3.
