In a tragic incident, six people were killed and around 218 people injured after a tornado hit Wuhan city in China. The tornado hit the Caidian District of Wuhan at around 8:30 pm on Friday with packing winds of 13.9 meters per second.
According to local authorities, the tornado ripped through the city toppling several construction site sheds and a large number of trees. About 27 houses collapsed and 130 households were destroyed. The tornado also damaged two tower cranes and 8000 square meters of construction site sheds.
Meanwhile, another Chinese city was hit by a second tornado on the same day. Shengze Town that comes under the city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province was hit by a tornado around 7 pm on Friday. The strong tornado killed a person and left 21 injured.

According to reports, the electricity facilities were damaged. Several factory buildings and construction sites were also damaged. The tornado came as quite a shock to residents as they are rare in the region.
In total two tornadoes had hit at least two Chinese cities in the last 24 hours. The two strong tornados killed seven people in total and injured 239 others.
Meanwhile, on May 14 China has reported seven new coronavirus cases. It included 5 imported cases and 2 local cases. No new deaths were recorded. Also, fearing Covid spread in the country, China has canceled attempts to climb Mount Everest.
