As 2021 comes to an end, people are packing tourists destinations, despite a rise in Omicron cases in India. Among several popular tourist destinations, Rajasthan has topped the list with
over 80 percent of hotels pre-booked for visitors till December 31.
On Sunday, over 40,000 tourists visited historical sites in Rajasthan’s Jaipur. Meanwhile, Jaipur alone reported 46 new cases on Sunday and the total number of active cases has crossed
the 300 mark.
Domestic tourists from Maharashtra, West Bengal and South India along with nearby Delhi, Haryana, UP and MP are flocking to Rajasthan in big numbers to celebrate the last week of the year.
Approximately 90% of hotels in Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pushkar, Mount Abu, Sawai Madhopur and Alwar are fully booked. This year, even the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation
(RTDC) hotels are doing quite well.
Rajasthan is a tourist destination that is popular with both domestic and international visitors. But this time, domestic tourists have packed the markets and eateries and the number of
tourists remained at peak in the weekend, which indicates a positive end of the year of the tourism industry in Rajasthan.

On the other hand, there is no restriction in the state on New Year celebrations. However, people are suggested to wear masks and follow other covid protocols.
As of December 27, Rajasthan has reported 43 Omicron cases.
India has reported 578 cases of the new highly contagious Covid strain in the last 24 hours, up 37% from yesterday's total of 422.
Delhi has the highest cases of Omicron (142), followed by Maharashtra (141), Kerala (57), Gujarat (49) and Rajasthan (43). According to the Health Ministry's bulletin, of the total 578
Omicron cases, 151 people have recovered or migrated.
