The largest turnover exchange in India, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has been down from about last two hours.

The trading in Futures and Options Market was halted at 11:40 am and the cash market at 11:43 am.

Further, some time back the exchange cancelled all open orders, but investors and traders beware that all open positions are open.

All brokers are helpless in the face of such an outage at the exchange.

This is so because the brokers also ultimately route the orders to the exchange only.

One of the most popular brokers Zerodha informed its users and the public that, “There is an issue with live ticks for NSE indices (Nifty 50, Nifty Bank and others) across brokers. We are in touch with NSE to have this fixed.”

NSE informed public via Twitter that their telecom service providers are having issues and thus NSE’s trading cannot run.

The NSE continued its explanation, “We are working on restoring the systems as soon as possible. In view of the above, all the segments have been closed at 11:40 and will be restored as soon as the issue is resolved.”
