At Punjab's Jalandhar City Railway Station, a passenger fell from the train and died. The deceased guy has been identified as Mohammad Firoz Alam aged 33 years who was a citizen of Bihar.
Firoz had come to plant paddy in the fields and was traveling back to his home town in Bihar with his son Azad. He hung from the door on the rung while the train was packed and there was no space even to stand. However, as his hand slipped, he fell between the train and the platform. He was severely injured because he was stuck between the train and the platform. The train was stopped when people started making noise. He was quickly removed from the gap between the train and the platform and sent to the hospital, but the medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Azad, Mohammad Firoz Alam's 12-year-old son, claimed that he along with his father had travelled to Nakodar in order to grow paddy. But, as a result of the flood in Punjab, they were traveling back to Bihar. The city railroad station was packed with travelers headed towards UP and Bihar.
After the Janseva Express and Jannayak Express trains were both canceled, Azad reported that the station was quite crowded. Meanwhile, Howrah mail, (another train) arrived on the platform. The entire crowd started to get on it but it was already full. People began hanging from the moving train's footboard as soon as it began to move. Firoz was also hanging on the rung but when the train's speed picked up, his hand slipped and he fell.
