A major development has been announced for the people of Punjab. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is bringing a new project for Punjab that will make the journey from Bathinda to Chandigarh much more convenient. This project will reduce the distance between Bathinda and Chandigarh by 50 kilometers. The new road will provide significant relief to people traveling from Bathinda, Muktasar, Abohar, and even from Rajasthan to Chandigarh via Bathinda.
Previously, travelers had to go through Bhatinda, Barnala, Sangrur, and Patiala to reach Chandigarh. With the new project, a direct link road from Barnala to Chandigarh will be established, eliminating the need to pass through Sangrur and Patiala. Additionally, a separate road will be constructed from Barnala to Mohali IT City.
At present, the construction of the Sirhind-Mohali road is underway, and in the near future, work will begin on the road connecting Sirhind to Barnala. This road will also be connected to the six-lane road being constructed from Bathinda to Ludhiana. According to the project designed by NHAI, this will be a Greenfield expressway under the Bharat Mala project, linking Chandigarh to Barnala, Malerkotla, Khanna bypass, Sirhind, and Mohali. The total distance of the road will be 110 km. Moreover, this road will also be connected to the economic corridor being developed from Ludhiana to Ajmer.
