Based on the real-life horrific tragedy of the 1997 Uphaar Cinema fire that terrorized thousands and left hundreds of families devastated, featuring Abhay Deol in the lead, the film is set to release on the web space soon.
The fire that broke out in Uphaar Cinema killed 59 people with 100 plus injured is one of the most horrific incidents of the time. The trailer posted by makers opens up with a warm and cozy home with the mom bidding her goodbyes to her kids as they leave for a cinema outing. Soon, we get to see the horrors of the fire in the cinema hall.
Abhay Deol is in the lead alongside Rajshri Deshpande who is playing the role of helpless parents fighting for justice after their child’s death.
The real-life horror will showcase the trials and tribulations of the families of victims of the 1997 Uphaar Cinema tragedy as they raise their voices for justice. It is based on the book written by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy book by the same name.
Abhay Deol shared the trailer on Instagram with the caption, detailing the release date which is set to hit the theatres on January 13th on Netflix.

Trial By Fire has been directed by Prashant Nair and is produced by Endemol Shine India and House of Talkies. Besides, Abhay and Rajshri the movie also features Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah, Shilpa Shukla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajesh Tailang, and Shardul Bharadwaj.
While apprising the media about his project Prashant said in a statement, “Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy are inspiring examples of the kind of resilience and fortitude it takes to move the needle even slightly in this country.”
He added, "What happened to them and the way they have been forced to fight for justice is truly horrific and, unfortunately, there are countless other people today in similar situations. We are grateful to Netflix for being such courageous partners in telling this story."
