Tricolour Khadi face masks for Arunachal Pradesh school students, new idea to instil nationalism

The Arunachal Pradesh government is giving away 60,000 Khaki Cotton Face Masks for students who are coming back to school after a long break of Covid-19.

Schools in Arunachal Pradesh are reopening from November 16 after an eight months gap due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. As it is mandatory to wear face protective masks to safeguard oneself from the virus, students will be wearing special and unique Tri-colour khadi masks. 

This tri-colour Khadi Face Masks have been arranged by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). 

The goal behind motivating students to wear tri-colour face masks is to instil and promote a sense of nationalism in them. 

KVIC will produce as many as 60,000 Khadi Cotton Face Masks. This will be the first time that any state government is spending so much on Khadi face masks. The huge order has been delivered in no time, keeping the massive requirement by the state government. 

These Khadi masks are different from normal masks in many ways. Apart from being comfortable because of being made of cotton material, it helps in retaining 70% moisture content, allowing easy passage for air to pass through. 

These cotton masks can be reused, washed, are biodegradable and breathable. 

A statement released by the government on Khadi face masks, “The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to open schools for class 10th and 12th from 16th November 2020, and also accorded approval for procurement of 60,000 Khadi Cotton face masks from KVIC for the school children,” the purchase order issued by the State Government said.

KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena said the supply of face masks was their important priority as it was meant for the students who will be joining schools from November 16.

Saxena said, “This is a prestigious order for KVIC and such big orders create an additional job for Khadi artisans. We have supplied the order in just 6 days while ensuring the highest quality standards of face masks.”
