After the tournament ended, Arshdeep Singh has become the joint highest wicket-taker with his brilliant performance in bowling. Arshdeep Singh has registered his name along with Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqui with 17 wickets in a T20 World Cup.
Arshdeep Singh dominated the rivals throughout this tournament. Before the final match, Arshdeep Singh had 15 wickets and was at number four. But two wickets in the finaltook him to the first position along with Fazalhaq Farooqui. Whenever there was pressure on India throughout the tournament, Arshdeep Singh showed his bowling skills.
Arshdeep Singh and Fazalhaq have secured joint first position by taking 17-17 wickets in 8 matches each. While Arshdeep Singh's economy rate was 7.16 and Fazalhaq's economy rate was 6.31. India's Jasprit Bumrah is in third place with South Africa's Anrich Nortje with 15 wickets in 8 matches with an economy rate of 4.17.
Arshdeep was in fourth place before the final match. Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqui was leading till the final match who broke the record of Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga by taking 17 wickets. Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga was in first place with 16 wickets in the 2021/2022 season. But in the final, Arshdeep Singh has set a new benchmark by surpassing Hasranga's record, putting him at par with Fazalaq.
