Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the post of Punjab PCC chief came as a blow to Congress and caused stir in political circles of the state. Reportedly, Sidhu was upset over the non-inclusion of the MLAs of his choice in the expanded Cabinet and the appointment of new Advocate General, A.P.S. Deol.
Capt Amarinder Singh, on the other hand, did not miss the chance to slam Sidhu. Calling him unstable, Capt said “I told you so...he’s not fit for the border state of Punjab”, meanwhile, his media advisor, Raveen Thukral tweeted, “jiski fitrat hi dansna ho wo to dasega mat socha kar… (Mehdi Hassan sahib plays on my iPhone).”

Where Capt’s camp is criticising Sidhu, netizens too did not show mercy to him. Soon after announcing his resignation on Twitter, Sidhu was brutally trolled on social media.
Mocking Congress leader Sidhu, one user said, “Bhai aap khud ki bhi party bana lo, toh mera dava hai ki aap wahan se bhi istifa de doge. Yeh rajiniti hai aapka ghar nahi, jahan sab aapke anusar hi chale.” (If you start your own party, I’m sure you’ll resign from there as well. This is politics, not your home where every wish of yours is fulfilled)
Where a user commented, “this is getting interesting”, another wrote, "Fall of Sidhu and Congress can be the rise of AAP in Punjab. It will only make them stronger, rest time will tell. This can go one-sided in favour of AAP"

Some Twitter users went on to say that Sidhu has ties to the BJP and is a mole sent by Modi's party to destroy the opposition.
