With the ongoing clashes in Ukraine, foreign students particularly
Indian are trying their best to leave the place as soon as possible. The Indian
Government has launched its evacuation programme for its citizens stuck in Ukraine
under the banner of “Operation Ganga”, to facilitate the safe return of the citizens.
In the midst of all this, a surprising news has come out of Ukraine.
An Indian student who has been studying in Ukraine has joined the hands with the
paramilitary forces of Ukraine amid the ongoing Ukraine Russia clash.
21- year old Sainikesh Ravichandran who hails from Tamil Nadu joined
Ukraine forces in the war. Officials went to his residence and inquired about the
same from his parents. It was discovered that Sainikesh had twice applied to join
Indian Army but was rejected both times.

In 2018, Sainikesh went to Ukraine to study at the National
Aerospace University in Kharkiv. He was to complete the course by July 2022.
In the midst of the ongoing war in Ukraine, his family had lost
communication with Sainikesh. After seeking the embassy’s help, they were able
to contact Sainikesh. He informed his family that he had joined the Ukrainian
paramilitary forces to fight against Russia.
