In the latest development, Elon Musk has shut down two Twitter offices situated in India and have sent all the employees back to work from home. There are in total of three Twitter offices in India out of which two have been shut down. Elon Musk stated that this decision was taken by him in order cut the cost and make Twitter financially stable by 2023 end.
Reportedly, Twitter offices in the political centre New Delhi and the financial hub of Mumbai have been shut down while the office at southern tech hub of Bengaluru continues to operate. Till the last year, Twitter fired more than 200+ plus staff in India that ranges up to 90% firing of employees. Although the people working there have given information about the shutting down of offices while there has been no official confirmation about the same by Twitter.
Elon Musk post buying Twitter revealed that the big tech giant was into losses and he has the responsibility to make it financially stable by the end of 2023 year. For the time being, he seems to pay less importance to the growing market because when big companies like Meta, Google and Microsoft regard India as the key growth market, Twitter is shutting down offices in the country.
Earlier in the month of January, Twitter was sued by multiple contractors as it failed to pay millions of dollars in rent for its San Francisco headquarters and London offices. The company has sold off everything be it their bird statue or even a coffee machine to raise money and pay the debt.
