Ahead of the 75th Independence Day two grenade attacks occurred late Friday night in the Ramban area of the Jammu-Kashmir National Highway. Reportedly, two people, Gopal Sharma (35) of Udhampur and Mohammad Aquib (16) of Mangit-Khari, were injured during the attack and were rushed to the sub-district hospital, Banihal. As per the police, their condition is stable.
One of the eye-witnesses informed police that they heard a loud sound and later it was released that two people have been injured in the grenade attack.

After the attack, Jammu and Kashmir police reached the spot. Investigation into the case has been underway and more details are awaited.
Another separate incident was witnessed in the Jammu and Kashmir’s Mochwa area of Budgam. In the incident, a terrorist has been eliminated by the security forces. The search is underway in the case and till now one AK-47 and a pistol have been recovered.
According to the on-ground information, the security forces gave a chance to the terrorist to surrender but he started firing on the force which resulted in the encounter.
This is the third grenade attack that occurred in J&K over the past two days. Earlier, on Thursday a grenade attack occurred at Sashastra Seema Bal post at Kashmir's Bemina. No causalities were reported in the attack.
Another incident took place at SSB DCoy 14 BN at Mehjoor Nagar on Thursday. Fortunately, no one was injured as the grenade missed the target and exploded on the empty road.
Independence Day Alert:
On July 25th, a security meeting was held to review and discuss the situation of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of 75th Independence Day. The meeting was attended by the Indian Army, Air Force, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF), Intelligence bureau, and J&K Police.
According to the Security Forces, the terrorists may plan an attack in the Kashmir Valley using interlinking and it is also expected that drones activity may also take place in the region.
