Although India and China continue to intimate in military and diplomatic talks to disengage from intensifying border conflict, a new unverified video showing Indian soldiers pushing back Chinese troops at a border area has come into light.
Amid snowcapped mountains, a group of Indian soldiers can be seen shoving and pushing back four-five Chinese officials and armymen. In the video, Indian soldiers can also be repeatedly heard asking the PLA officers to go back and eventually the argument turns into a fistfight.
As seen in the 5.30 minute-long video, despite being told repeatedly to leave, the Chinese remain firm and one PLA soldier even lunges towards the Indian jawans after which the Indian soldiers surround them and a violent brawl takes place.
While the date and time of the video clip remain vague, the soldiers can be seen wearing face masks that have been made mandatory amid coronavirus pandemic, which indicates that the video is recent.
Experts studying the India-China border region have suggested that the topography in the video suggests that it could be from Sikkim's Naku La sector, which has seen confrontations between Indians and Chinese forces since early May.
The two armies have been engaged in a standoff in Galwan and several other areas of eastern Ladakh since May 5 when their troops clashed on the banks of the Pangong Tso.
The situation in eastern Ladakh deteriorated after around 250 Chinese and Indian soldiers were engaged in a violent face-off on May 5 and 6. The incident in Pangong Tso was followed by a similar incident in North Sikkim on May 9.
