Asserting a change in the image of Uttar Pradesh in BJP regime, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that his government has led UP to a riot-free state which was a state synonymous with murder, loots and riots in the SP-BSP era.

After two years Yogi came into rule, he asserted that his state had become a model for the nation with no riots in last two years.

"Mafia was looting the state's resources under political patronage. Mafia was rampant in SP, BSP rule. There was a long era of scams," he said.
He claimed to have changed the public perception about Uttar Pradesh improving its 'tarnished image'.

"In 2012, there were 227 major communal riots. In 2013, there were 247 such riots. In 2014, there were 242 riots. And 219 riots in 2015 and more than 100 in 2016 - in which properties worth crores were lost," he added.

"However during thee BJP government, not a single riot took place. Nor were there any incident of acid attacks or kidnapping," he claimed.
