UPSE CSE prelims candidates who had their last attempt for the Civil services exam in 2020 but were unable to appear for the exam because of the coronavirus pandemic, will be given another chance to appear for the exam, the Central government on Friday had announced.
Rachna Singh, a civil service applicant had filed a plea in the Supreme Court for an extra attempt in the UPSC exam for those who failed to appear for their last try. The Supreme Court was hearing the same plea today. UPSC prelims last attempt was held on October 4 last year. Many candidates like Rachna had petitioned for getting another chance for exams as they could not appear for the exams due to covid-19 pandemic.
The notification of Civil Services exam 2021 is scheduled to be released on February 10.
In September 2020, the Central Government and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) were directed by the top court to consider giving an extra chance to candidates who otherwise have their last attempt in 2020, with a corresponding extension of the upper age-limit.
As per the data shared by the Centre a total of 4,86,952 candidates had appeared for the exam on October 4.
