US Covid-19 cases over 100,000 for the seventh day in a row

The worst-hit country in the world, total COVID-19 cases in the US are 10,238,243, with a total of 239,588 deaths.

The United States on Tuesday has exceeded its previous record. It reported a record figure of new coronavirus cases for the seventh day in a row, while the number of deaths mounted to their highest daily count since August. 

By late Tuesday, the US reported around 134,000 new infections, while an average of 120,000 COVID cases has been recorded by the country every day for the past week. 

The US reported 1,450 deaths in the last 24 hours which is a record in months. The death tally in the country has increased above 1,400 since mid-August.

Coronavirus hospitalizations have also seen a hit with numbers reaching 61,471 by late Tuesday, by far the highest ever since the pandemic began.

The new president-elect Joe Biden has promised to take better strategy towards tackling the virus. He urged the nation this week that face coverings are the only best way to get the virus under control.
