POTUS Joe Biden has made a ground breaking revelation in the lead up to the presidential candidate announcement. Looking at elections in 2024, Biden has made the claim that he will run as the presidential candidate for the democratic party, along with sitting Vice-President Kamala Harris.
This comes as a surprise to many as President Biden’s mental faculties have been questioned by Americans and foreigners alike. Owing to his advanced age, Biden has been seen making verbal errors, often fumbling while giving public speeches. He is also said to have lost his motor skills to a certain degree, having been recorded taking a tumble while climbing or descending the stairs of the Airforce 1 on more than one occasion. Amid wide spread concerns about his physical and mental decline, many in Washington political circles have questioned how effective a leader he can be. Even the general public has a perception that his advanced age will act as a hinderance in performing his presidential duties.
With so many questions being asked, it comes a surprise that he is planning on throwing his hat in the ring once again. Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t bullet-proof either. Her apparent absence and lack of influence in the affairs of the white house have not gone unnoticed. Many have questioned her efficacy as the second in command. She is also under the yoke of allegations regarding her role in keeping possible early parole candidates in prison for extended sentences during her time in the judiciary.
As all these speculations seem to be denting their perception among the public, many expected the democrats to look for new options amongst their ranks. Whether Biden and Kamala Harris make it to the elections though, is still a toss-up. They would have to beat potential candidates with in their party in the democratic elections first. A task that will require extensive campaigning.

Biden would also have to answer for his handling of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, the deteriorating relationship with China in the south China sea and American involvement in Ukraine. The Biden administration is seen by many as the center of these issues. On the other hand, the white house has repeatedly tried to pawn these issues off on former president Trump. According to them, issues like Afghanistan, the North-Korean nuclear issue and break down with China were inherited from the previous administration. Whether that will hold water during his re-election campaign or not, is another matter.
