As per the experts, the upcoming third wave of coronavirus would be deadly for children. State and the Centre government have started preparing for the third wave.
Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government has started vaccine trials on children. In Kanpur, a vaccine trial has been done on a two-year-old child, who is the youngest in the world for a vaccine trial.
The vaccine trial is conducted by indigenous vaccine manufacturer Bharat Biotech. The trial started on Tuesday at Prakhar Hospital in Kanpur. The vaccine drive in Kanpur is divided into three groups. The first group is of children between two to six years, the second group of six to 12 years and the third group is of 12 to 18 years old children.
For the first time, 40 children from the third group were selected for the vaccine trial, out of this 20 were found fit for vaccination and were vaccinated as well.
On the second day, 10 children were selected from the second group and out of which, five were found fit and were vaccinated. Later, the children were kept under observation for 45 minutes, two children witnessed slight red marks at the injection spot, which is considered normal.
On the third day, the vaccine trial was conducted on the youngest group (first group).
Vaccine trial Investigator pediatrician Professor VN Tripathi said that it is for the first time that the vaccine trial is conducted on such young children. No such trial has been done on young children worldwide. The children would be vaccinated and special care would be taken of these young volunteers.

Earlier, in the Kanpur Russian vaccine, Sputnik V and Zydus Cadila have been tested. Other companies are also planning for the trials in Kanpur. It is expected that trials for nasal spray would be also conducted.
