51 Hindu shrines will be freed from government control, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat had announced. This development comes after a strong protest against the state government to acquire control over the administration of the Temples earlier.
Uttarakhand Char Dhaam Devasthanam Board was made in January 2020 to manage temples in the state during the administration of former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.
“There will be a review on the decision of formation of Char Dham Devasthanam Board. State government's management over 51 prominent temples to be removed,” said Tirath Singh Rawat.
The Chardham Shrine Management Board Act 2019, was passed by the Uttarakhand government to supervise the management of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath and 51 Temples.
This decision by Uttarakhand CM comes after a meeting with a delegation of VHP members.
The decision of the state government to take control over the temples had drawn massive objection from the priests, who have been protesting against the same.

The decision by Uttarakhand CM comes at a time when there is a movement underway to free Hindu Temples from the control of the Secular State.
A similar thing has been promised by the BJP in Tamil Nadu to bring a separate board of saints and scholars, to manage and oversee the temple administration of the state, if they come to power.
