Since its launch in 2019, the Vande Bharat Express has become a comfortable journey destination for many Indians due to its semi-high-speed performance, comfort, and modern amenities. However, recently, the train has not grabbed attention due to its new route, service, or comfort - this time, the premium fares of the train service have sparked debate among low-income groups - who find it difficult to travel in these trains.
In response to this, the government and the Indian Railways have been planning to reduce ticket prices to ensure that the train service is utilized by the majority of the Indians. The matter was recently raised by Congress MP Rakibul Hussain in Lok Sabha, who directly questioned Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and asked him about the government's plans to lower the fares of this special train.
According to certain reports, the Indian Railways have been planning to reduce the price of Vande Bharat Express so that this train service can become a mode of transport for every individual in the nation. However, no official confirmation on the matter has been provided.
It is anticipated that this decision to lower ticket prices could be a game changer as it will convert the train service into a more sustainable service. It is noteworthy that this step will surely align with the government's goal to reduce carbon emissions along with inclusive growth.
It is expected that if the prices are reduced, more people will start preferring Vande Bharat or rail routes, which will contribute to the reduction of traffic on the highways.

For now, the Vande Bharat Express is running on selected routes and is a rail bridge between the cities situated within 800 kilometers. Currently, the Vande Bharat train operates in 136 such services, and the time consumed is approximately 10 hours. The increasing rail routes and services are proof that people are largely opting for Vande Bharat due to its fast, convenient, and comfortable travel experience.
