Latest information surging from Jalandhar reveals that a protest is being carried out at Bus Stand by bus drivers and conductors. Total closure of Bus Stand was announced by them as they staged a dharna on ‘no action’ against forceful transfers and unauthorized recruitments.
Channan Singh PRTC Union on Roadways, District Secretary revealed that an illegitimate report was lodged against a conductor of Batala Depot after which he has been protesting against the same by sitting on a hunger strike for last 3 days. Post this, no action was taken regarding matter by transport department. He further added that for past few days depots all over Punjab were closed and Jalandhar’s bus stand was shut down from 10am to 12 noon.
Channan Singh revealed that Transport Department Punjab has forcibly transferred 15 conductors of Ferozpur Depot to Bhatti Depot. He also added that 28 drivers were recruited without any training of the following of procedure.
Reportedly, complaint regarding same was given by them but till now no action by ministers or director of their department has been initiated which has left depot workers with no option but to protest against same so that their voices are heard.
Channan Singh concluded by saying that their next action will be based on decision taken by transport department after hearing all their complaints.
