VIDEO: Tajinder Bittu explains why he moved to BJP after 35 years in Congress

Tajinder Singh Bittu's shift to BJP after 35 years with Congress sent shockwaves through the political landscape, here is what he has to say about it:

In a major blow for the Congress party ahead of Lok Sabha Elections, AICC Secretary In-Charge Himachal Pradesh, Tajinder Singh Bittu, joined BJP after serving nearly 35 years with Congress. Bittu was considered a close-aide of Priyanka Gandhi. Bittu remained away from politics for 12 years. However, in 2017, Tajinder Singh Bittu started working for the Congress party again. On Saturday, he left the party along with another senior Congress leader in the former Late Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary’s wife, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary. These 2 high-profile party shifts have delivered a major blow to Congress.

 

Talking to the media he said that, “After 35 years, I now feel like the party has deviated from its principles.”“I am a Phd. Holder so I like to do my research. I have studied BJP, I feel like if there is an alternative for Punjab’s development, then it is the trio of PM Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda” He went on to say. I was thinking about the well-being of Punjab and keeping that in mind, I have joined BJP.

 

Tajinder Singh Bittu has his roots in Punjab as well. He has served as the Chairman of Jalandhar Improvement Trust.  As per Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), Tajinder Singh Bittu is an LLB Graduate. Tajinder Singh Bittu has no criminal cases against him.

 

Bittu is a close aide of the Gandhi Family and was AICC Secretary In-Charge of Himachal Pradesh. He has fought the MLA election from the Central Constituency in Jalandhar and is considered one of the senior members of the party. Karamjit Chaudhary, who is the wife of former MP, Late Santokh Singh Chaudhar, had contested Jalandar by-elections last year as a Congress candidate. Her son, Vikram Chaudhary is Congress’ MLA from Phillaur. She belongs to a prominent Dalit family with big influence in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur.
