The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday arrested Ashok Kumar, an associate of revenue Patwari Chamkour Singh, posted at Giaspura, District Ludhiana for accepting a bribe of Rs. 6,000. In this regard a bribery case has also been registered against the Patwari who escaped from the spot.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said the above accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Rakesh Kumar, a resident of village Kohara, district Ludhiana.
He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that to get mutation of his newly purchased plot and to take copies of Fards for getting loan the above said Patwari and his accomplice have demanded a bribe of Rs 6,000 from him.
The spokesman added that after a preliminary investigation of this complaint, the VB Unit Ludhiana laid a trap and nabbed above said Ashok Kumar, associate of Patwari Chamkour Singh red-handed in the presence of two official witnesses while taking a bribe of Rs 6,000 from the complainant. Efforts are being made to arrest the co-accused Patwari who has escaped from his office. In this regard a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the both the accused at Vigilance Bureau, police station, Ludhiana Range and further investigation was under progress.
