Vigilance Bureau Punjab on Wednesday evening arrested former DGP Punjab Sumedh Saini in a corruption case and in connection with another FIR, the details of which have not been disclosed by the officials yet.
As per information, Sumedh Saini reached Bureau office around 8pm saying he would cooperate with the investigating officers for further investigation in the corruption case charged against him.
However, the officials concerned after few hours of questioning, decided to arrest him.
Meanwhile, the legal process concerning his arrest his on. Further information will be shared Punjab Vigilance Bureau by tomorrow, sources said.
Earlier on August 7, the session court in Mohli denied bail to Saini. He had filed the bail plea through his counsels HS Dhanoya and APS Deol in the court of Parminder Singh Grewal, Additional Session Judge.
But on August 12, he was granted interim anticipatory bail by Justice Avneesh Jhingan after hearing detailed agrument on behalf of the petitioner and the state.

Notably, Saini among 7 persons was booked by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau under Sections 109, 120-B of the IPC and 13(1)(B) and 13 (2) of the PC Act recently. The Vigilance team had also raided Saini’s residence in Sector 20 here to arrest him and it continued searching his house for several hours.
