In the latest development, Chandigarh Vigilance Team for the second day is carrying out raids at former Deputy CM OP Soni's hotel. Earlier, his properties were raided and investigated by the Vigilance Bureau. A few months back OP Soni was summoned by Vigilance Bureau. He was asked to submit income-related information and details. His income from 2017-2022 was examined at that time.
Reportedly, on Tuesday the Vigilance team reached Amritsar from Chandigarh at former Deputy CM OP Soni's hotel named Sarovar Portico. While the team checked the property documents of OP Soni, a property assessment has also been done. According to the information received, Vigilance Team arrived from Chandigarh on Monday and directly reached OP Soni’s farmhouse. Vigilance officials have stated that a team arrived from Chandigarh to inquire regarding OP Soni's disproportionate income.
SSP Varinder Singh informed that the teams are also investigating his factories apart from his farmhouse and hotels. Adding to this, OP Soni’s bank and property documents are also being examined.
Om Prakash Soni was also associated with the sanitizer scam in month of July. He was accused of buying sanitizer at thrice the cost during the pandemic while he was health minister.
