Vikas Divyakirti of the famous Drishti IAS feels that he is being targeted after the tragic incident at Old Rajinder Nagar that left three UPSC aspirants dead in Delhi. Vikas Divyakirti who is the founder & the face of Drishti IAS also faced a strict action of the MCD as its basement in Mukherjee Nagar was sealed by the authorities. Drishti IAS was among the 20 coaching centers in Delhi that were sealed or banned from the use of basements in their buildings. Not only this but educator Vikas Divyakirti was also lambasted by students protesting in the national capital for remaining tight-lipped. On Tuesday, Drishti IAS posted a long note that contained Vikas Divyakirti's official statement after criticism on social media. Furthermore, Vikas Divyakirti's Interview was done by a newswire in which he opened up on why he remained silent. But, it is Vikas Divyakirti's suggestions that are worth noting.
Vikas Divyakirti's statement contained a solution to resolve the poor infrastructure of coaching in Delhi and even how to control the skyrocketing rents for students preparing for government jobs in the national capital. "The permanent solution to this problem is that the government should select three-four areas in Delhi and designate them for coaching institutes. If the government itself prepares classrooms, libraries, and hostels, then there will be no problem with high rent or security provisions."
Notably, a news portal quoted an ABVP youth leader saying, "Those, especially from poor and middle-class backgrounds, face the heat of high costs of living and education. Coaching fees range from 2-3 lakhs per year. Despite spending so much, these institutes have libraries in the basement and classrooms without fire exits. PGs charge 10k to 20k for tiny rooms."
Opening up about his silence on Old Rajinder Nagar tragedy, Vikas Divyakriti said, "This is my nature, I am not very expressive. Three children died, and it was a painful death. For the last three days, whenever we talk at home or I go to sleep, an image comes to mind of what those children must have gone through when the water was filled inside... All the things said by the students who are protesting right now are valid. It is good that I have met three-four students today (Tuesday). I had a meeting with the Delhi L-G. Some students had also come to that meeting, and there were also owners of many institutes. There were also top officials of the Delhi government, from DDA, MCD, fire department, and Chief Secretary."
Divyakriti also highlighted that his competitors are trying to pull him into the controversy and the authorities need a scapegoat, therefore, he is being targeted. "I am getting targetted because in such cases, everyone wants a scapegoat. It makes things easier for the administration, they think they are safe, let that one person suffer, and even the society feels that they have got the accused...The students are going through an emotional turmoil, the reason for their anger is why did I not stand with them...The sealing action took place on more than 50 institutes, one of them is ours...3 children died, it was a painful death, for the last 3 days whenever we talk at home or I go to sleep, an image comes to my mind that what those children must have gone through when the water was filled inside...All the things said by the students who are protesting right now are valid," said Vikas Divyakriti.
