Wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Tuesday made India proud at the Paris Olympics not once but twice. First Vinesh Phogat defeated Olympic gold-medallist and four-time World Champion Yui Susaki from Japan in her Paris Olympics Round of 16 clash on August 4. Thereafter, on the same day, Vinesh Phogat defeated Yusneylys Guzman by 5-0 in a one-sided semifinal and guaranteed India its fourth medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. This made Vinesh Phogat the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the wrestling final in the Olympics. Now, she will face Sarah Ann Hilderbrandt of the United States in the historic gold medal match in the 50 kg freestyle final. Notably, Vinesh Phogat's victory over the legendary Japanese wrestler is among the most talking points in terms of sports. Vinesh Phogat's uncle and former Dronacharya awardee, Mahavir Phogat in an interview with a news portal revealed that he had sent his niece instructions on how to handle Susaki in the Paris Games 2024. Mahavir Phogat revealed that he had instructed Vinesh Phogat's coach, Virender Dahiya, about asking the Indian wrestler to concentrate on her defence against Susaki in the first round and then put her attacking foot forward from the second.

It is pertinent to mention here that Vinesh was trailing in the first round, and suddenly she went on an all-out attack and defeated the world champion Yui Susaki. 

Coming to the politics that has already started after Vinesh Phogat's victory at the Paris Olympics, the Congress and other opposition leaders are pointing out the time when the wrestler was dragged by Delhi Police when she was at the forefront of the wrestler protest against former WFI Chief Brijbhushan Singh.
