A major power outage has caused inconvenience in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The power cuts were seen in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and other parts of the region. The power outage has caused lakhs of commuters stranded as trains services, including traffic signals, have been disrupted due to power failure. Celebs have taken to Twitter and reacted to the sudden shutdown in the city.


Amitabh Bachchan shared two posts on the same and asked his fans to keep calm. He wrote, "T 3688 - Entire city in power outage .. somehow managing this message .. keep calm all shall be well .."

Filmmaker and president of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association Ashoke Pandit shared how the city has never seen such a power failure. He wrote, "In the history of #Mumbai, the city has never seen such a power failure and this grid failure is a massive symptom of a failing administration who manages governance thru PR drives. #poweroutage #powercut"


Actor and comedian Vir Das shared two posts on the Mumbai power cut. He wrote, "For the next few hours people from Mumbai will sympathise with each other, while people from Delhi judge them. #poweroutage" He further added, "It's hard to get things done in Mumbai without power. Also...the electricity is gone."

Kangana Ranaut, who is known for voicing her opinions without mincing her words, shared a photograph of comedian Kunal Kamra and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. Taking a dig at the Aarey Metro car shed project, she wrote, "#Powercut in Mumbai, meanwhile Maharashtra government क-क-क.......कंगना ।"


Electricity supply is now being restored across the region in a phased manner. Supply has already been restored in many areas of MMR such as Charni Road, Worli, Dadar, Panvel, Thane, South Mumbai and Kalina.
