In the latest incident, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP slapped a wrestler during a national championship event in Jharkhand. The incident was caught on camera and the video is now going
viral on social media.
The video shows BJP's Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who is also the president of the Wrestling Federation of India, slapping the young wrestler twice, after which the wrestler is escorted
down the stage.
The incident occurred on Friday during the ongoing National Wrestling Championship at Shaheed Ganpat Rai Indoor Stadium in Khel Village in Jharkhand's Ranchi.
Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, 64, represents Uttar Pradesh's Kaiserganj constituency in the Lok Sabha and was present at event as the chief guest.
According to sources, the wrestler who was slapped was over the age of 15. He was disqualified from the tournament after his age was revealed, so he approached the stage and began requesting
the chief guests and judges.
He kept appealing to Mr Singh to let him participate in the Under-15 category, after which the MP lost his cool and slapped him.
The video has surfaced just days after controversial BJP minister Ajay Mishra was seen abusing journalists.
Ajay Mishra can be seen saying, “Befkufi Ke Sawaal Mat Kiya Karo, Dimaag Kharab Hai Kya, Phone Band Kar De. Yehin Media Wale Choron ne Nirdosh Aadmi ko… sharam nahi aati
hai (Don’t ask stupid questions. Are you mad? These media persons, thieves… Do you have no shame?).
The question asked to the Minister after which he lost his cool was- “What would you say about additional charges levelled against your son?”
The Union Minister is also seen snatching a reporter's mic. He says, "Mic band karo be (off the mic)." Further, Mr Mishra can be seen using foul language.
The incident occurred while the minister was inaugurating an oxygen plant.
